All of the problems that bothered the markey last week are still lingering but people are beginning to realize that the numbers, especially earnings, aren't so bad. So far, with 63% of the companies in the S&P 500 having handed in their latest quarterly numbers, profits are running 7.4% higher than at the same time a year ago, according to Thomson Financial.
